is that the 4 speed w/od, or just a granny low truck 4 speed, im thinking about swapping my truck 4, for a later model 5 speed.... but i have a small problem, i dont know what the heck im lookin for...
For a short time I had an NP435 in my truck after converting from auto, but then swapped for a close-ratio T19, 4:1 low gear.
For me (very hilly area), it was a HUGE improvement over a granny low trans because it eliminated the big jumps between gears, giving four, fully usable ratios.
There are different T18/19 shifters, with shorter & longer fingers below the ball.
Novak Conversions have new replacements in both types, but with some 5/8" rod, your shifter can be repaired.
Any chance you have the part number on that bell housing? I just got an aluminum bell like that and I'm not sure what clutch fork/ball I need. Not tryin to hijack lol
That T19 you have is setup for a two piece driveshaft, I don't think there is any way to convert it to use a one piece. I hate to say it, but I think your going to be stuck building or modifying a crossmember to mount that carrier bearing.
There weren't any clutch interrupt switches on these trucks! If you want you can wire one up using the old neutral safety switch.
And yes, the drive-shaft should come apart in the middle, the whole slip yoke should slide off. Just mark it with a piece of chalk so it goes back together on in exactly the same spot.
I figured I was stuck with the two piece setup, I can get the bracket from the frame of the donor truck.. I am mainly concerned with the crossmember for the transmission.
I'll yank on it harder, I suppose. It wouldn't come apart at the 'yard'.
Landed a T18 shifter which doesn't fit into my T19.. but at least I can make a shifter now if I can't find a direct fit. What a grease pile this truck was... ugh.
You wont need the 2-piece d-shaft with a short bed, but because of the bolt on yoke on the trans you'll need a d-shaft with a stub and slip yoke to install/remove it,
what size u-joints are you running most 2wd f350's have a 1350 series joint... might have to change yoke on the rear end,or use a combo u-joint but I'm not very fond of those.
Honestly, no idea what I am running currently. I think 1330s, but not sure. Driveshaft was going to be last.. bolt it all together, measure it, then get a shaft built.
