i have the entire drivetrain of a 94 f350, that is going under a 78 f250 frame which will have be a supercab 4x4 7.3 idi, the problem with that is i cant run the 78 f250 speedometer as its cable driven off of the transfer case on that year. i was wondering if anyone can give me any helpful info on what to do, i am planning on making a new gauge cluster anyways, i just dont know how the speedo works on a drivetrain of that year, and what aftermarket ones i can use for it? thanks
If you're getting a new gauge cluster anyway, I'd talk to dakota digital and see if they can do something for you, although I believe its still a driven gear on the '94 trans. Are you saying you don't want to use the speedo from the '94 cos its in the trans? The only difference it will make is that you won't be accurate in 4LO, and if you're in 4LO you probably aren't on a road anyway.
i just need a speedo to work in my 78 f250. i was told that the speedometers for the 94 were cable driven out of the rear end. and i cannot get it to work with the 78 speedo unless i have the married np205 transfercase but dont quote me on that. which route would you take to get one working? i only need it for road use like you mentioned.
