Please help with speedo clarification.
My truck has a speedo and odometer that don't work at all. Dealer said it was a VSS setup. They said the sensor was on the transmission and that they swaped in a spare to see if it was bad, but it was not the problem.
I read here that
A) The VSS is on the rear diff
B) Up to 91 was a cable
Whats going on?
The dealer is still able to read the mileage (302 XXX KM) speedo quit at 275 XXX. Any input would be fantasic

In 1988, it's a mechanical speedo. No VSS. The hookup is on the transfer case, not the transmission. Sounds you have a real winner of a dealer.
It could be the speedo ring chewed up, or a broken cable, or as simple as the cable coming disconnected from the back of the gauge cluster.
