Running 302 without ps pump??

Hello,

I have a question for you guys who are running a 302 in your 52 ford.

I am going to go with manual steering in my truck, yes I know that power steering is awesome, but I would rather use manual.

My question is, can I run the 302 without the power steering pump pulley being there? Like run a belt from the crank pulley up to the fan pulley?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks a million!

I am, Im using the stock steering box, so i took off the second pully and only have one belt. as long as you dont have a power steering box or power rack your fine. but if you do have a power box or rack you would not be abel to steer without the pump turning. I hope this answers your question. Edit , I should mention to make sure the second belt or pully isnt running something else like a air pump ect.

Yup its no problem - the pump is effectively an accessory that happens to be run by the engine.

Quick question......I'm trying to put my 302 on an engine stand and I have 3/8 bolts to mount the engine on the stand but they just go in the hole and pull right back out they don't even thread in, what size bolt do I need for the rear of the engine to mount the engine on a stand???

Smallblock Ford bellhousing bolts are 7/16" - 14 TPI.
