My hat goes out to all you do it yourself guys, been on vacation and been playing with the truck. I was trying to install the cowl vent gasket, ended up screwing that up. In the process, found out the PO had rigged up the passenger vent arm and it came off. Now I can't get it to stay on and the vent to stay up,man it's HOT in Texas without that vent. I know I need all new components now, but I'm just trying to get it to stay up for now. After 2 1/2 hours, I've given up and moved on to the Vette . L8R ZFLASH

Best thing to do when you get frustrated, walk away and do something else for a while. The cowl vent gasket is one of the more frustrating parts. Do you have a mid fifty catalog? Mid Fifty F-100 Parts - Home they probably have the parts to fix the pass vent. Mine was covered over to make room for the AC, I cut out the louvers and filled them. I still have the cowl vent but mine is powered.

Ha, you say that like it always works out the first time on everything. It reminds me of a blacksmith saying, "Being a great blacksmith doesn't mean you can make something, it means you can royally screw something up and fix it."
Try using a stick between the vent and floor boards (maybe inside of dash?) to prop up the vent in the mean time. Or a small stick outside between the hood and the vent. Least you'll be able to use it then.
What year is your Corvette?

I'm a firm believer in the frosty beverage theory. Sometimes I use it in the planning stages as well. In fact I'm so good at planning that my head really hurt this morning....ooops
Seriously though, when you start getting frustrated, walk away for awhile. The old truck will wait for you, no biggie
