Power steering pump

Just replaced the fan belt on my 1992 302 today and noticed that I had a little play in the power steering pump. Should I be concerned or is it supposed to have a little (1/4 inch) movement towards the front?

Power steering pump

Hi, when you say "play" do you mean in the pulley or the belt. If it's in the belt you need to tighten it. there should never be play in a belt. If it's in the pulley theres something wrong with the pump!

1/4 inch ? Man you're doing good, I have about 3/4inch play LOL........... going to be changing out the gear box soon. Hopefully I can find a decent one at a junk yard because I don't want to pay for a new one, upwards of $200 for a new one.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to look for a rebuilt ? or neUSED ?
