So!
The abs warning light comes on. In to the shop which determines it is the RF abs sensor. They say the "abs electronics are integral with the entire hub so the entire hub needs to be replaced". $400 parts, $150 labor.
Yet I see abs sensors for sale online for $35 - $50 "fits 2001 F150 RF 4WD".
Am I being hosed or is the shop correct?
Thanks!
Glenn.
your being hosed.. I bought hub units on e-bay for $150. or so and changed out at 150k miles.. 5 years later the ABS sensor crapped out. I took the old sensors from the original hubs and installed them for free. You can buy aftermarket sensors, or find some fron old hubs.
Thanks Steve. It just didn't sound right. Hope I get a couple more confirmations (not that I doubt you) as I've known these guys for a while and this just doesn't fit past dealings.
