Should I get a dry or oiled S&B Cold Air Intake

Looking at getting the S&B Cold Air Intake, should I get a disposable dry filter or an oiled filter? What would be better or advantages and disadvantages over one another? Thanks!

This naturally is my opinion only. I've used K&N oiled filters on everything I've owned for so many years I forget, and never ever had an issue. I put a aFe Pro Dry system on my truck and it was okay no problems no issues just cleaned it more often. I swapped that out for a Volant System, dry as well and I hate it. I mean with a passion. Fit is poor, took a lot of finese to get it to fit right. Now when I pull out to pass I get a "Check Air Filter" notice on the dash, and have to reset the sensor under the hood. It's as restrictive as a roll of toilet paper. My 2 cents get The oiled System. Buy who ever you want but K&N wouldn't offer a million mile warranty if they were unsure of their product.

Get the S&B Oiled. It's worked great for me. No DTC's or filterminder getting tripped. Just cleaned it for the first time after 40K. I'm not a fan of replacement filters for stock air boxes.

I also run the oiled S&B and oddly enough just replaced mine yesterday too. I bought an extra filter so the new one is ready to go in once I pull the old one out. No complaints and it's never tripped the filter minder other than in winter when it got packed off with snow.

Ok so it's the filterminder that trips constantly under load. I went to the Volant web site and they sell(for my F350) and cotton gauze oiled filter and what I have is the upgraded dry filter. I was unaware mine was the upgrade, I just ordered it. I'll be replacing it with the oiled gauze(K&N like) filter soon enough.

Can electronic air restriction gauge remain disconnected for S&B filter

I posted a new thread for the S&B Oiled and the filterminder. Then I saw your post here. Can I leave the filterminder disconnected or is it required that I drill the hole and connect it to the underside of the Intake Air Tube? My preference is not to drill a hole in the new S&B and leave the filterminder disconnected.

To answer your question it really depends on your Horse power goals. The stock filter will support an additional 150 HP fairly easy and is an excellent filter, anything more then that and you need to some type of aftermarket mesh oil filter.

Someone on another website tested the aftermarket oiled filters.
They found some absolute filters, (don't know where from), and installed them after the cars main air filter. The oiled filters let more dirt through.

Leave the stock filter on, I've never set the filter minder off, stock one is good for lots of HP.
