My '66 F350 dually has an amp guage that pulses with about the same tempo as a turn signal. When I turn on the headlights, they dim when the guage pulses. I have recently replaced the alternator & the voltage regulator. Any Ideas??
It does it if the engine is running at any speed. The weird thing is that the headlights also pulse by dimming at each pulse. The oncoming traffic seems to think I am trying to warn them of a radar trap, as I get the "high sign" from them. I could go along with the "common occurence on '66 trucks" but not the headlight problem!!
The Amp Gauge uses a separate harness. This harness starts out on the inner apron at a phenolic block and runs 100 percent of the power through the loop on the back of the gauge then back out to the truck harness (basically it interrupts the stock harness and makes a long trip).
Check the mount and the cables for corrosion. No amounts of parts throwing at it will fix the bad wiring.
