I have an 02 extended cab F150 and whenever it rains the rear window leaks (it doesnt have a slider, it's solid) and the half doors leak too... i sealed the back window with caulk to try and fix it and it worked for about 2 storms and then it started to leak again. The side doors leak at the seam where they meet the front doors... any suggestions?? Should i order new seals for the windows? or is there a simpler way to do it that isnt as expensive..
Rear window may have developed leak through 3rd brake light, or heat seperating calking around window. As far as door seals may have to replace them due to wear or crushing. I have the same problem on my windshield due to when it was replaced was not properly sealed.
I have '97 F150 reg cab, 4x4, slider rear window...frame cracked, leaked every rain above passenger head...Cindy Rowe replaced for $350 I think...dry as a bone... They said that Ford upgraded the design for more robust frame but not sure what year...
My rear solid window is leaking too and I think that it is coming in from the 3rd brake light area, but it drips down onto the seat from the headliner about half way to the passenger side. One of these days, I am going to pull the 3rd brake light to see what is going on. There is a rubber grommet behind the 3rd brake light that maybe the source of the leak.
THe factory rear window has a gum seal (tape) and the seam is at the top left about 6-8 inches from the corner. THE factory got a lot of them wrong. It is not the light. The plastic trim over the window does nothing but show. The window as a frame around it with a dozen small screws. You caulk (gum seal) the groove and stick the window in from the bed area THRU the plastic trim ring. The screws or studs (i forget) are accessable from the inside of the cab if you pull the head liner down and fell around. YOu need to remove the plastic inside door post trim to see the screws on the side. and bottom of the window. Take the screws out and PUSH the window out to your buddy in the bed area. Scrape off the old bytle rubber gasket and get a new "KIT" at Auto Zone for about $15. and install it. Takes 2 hours. Or you can pay someone to do it.
