Was it earlier year X's that had the 1000lb hitch, or just what happened to be bolted on at the factory but no specific year. Just wondering as my 03 has the 1250 hitch.

You're right. I was thinking the other way for some reason.

You have to pull the tank shield down to remove the hitch.

My brain must be in overload....

The parts catalog say Dec. 2000, so I'm guessing it must have been only the earliest. I'm not sure what was on my 2001 since someone removed the hitch before we bought it, but I'm guessing it was the heavier rated one since the holes in the frame fit the larger bolts. It was built in June of 2001.

If anyone is interested, I would like to sell the complete platform hitch assembly WITH the necessary bolts. I've listed this in the MARKETPLACE...
