I changed my tie rod ends on my 2000 v10 4x4 today. The one at the pitman arm and at the other end connecting to the drag link. I measured everything up before k started and put it back to the same now my steering wheel is off set by about 90 degrees. I am lost now
When I replaced all the components on the front end of my X, I also had an offset on the steering wheel when I was done. Measured everything and put it all back together the same way it came off. In the end, if you want the steering wheel centered, you will have to take it in and get an alignment. That is what I did. I think the alignment was $70.
You should be able to adjust the steering wheel center by adjusting the link at the pitman arm.
Have someone inside the truck while you tighten or loosen the coupler on the link at the pitman arm. You will make lots of turns while the steering wheel turns slow.
Or as mentioned above take it in and they will center it for you.
