The other day I fixed the notorious door lock actuator problem by installing the new motors. But on the passenger side door after I installed it and put everything back together the window rolls down 10x slower. I had to move the track that the window rolls on to get the actuator back in. I don't know if I bent it or what. Can I fix it myself or should I take it to a shop? It is really bugging me bad.
I have the same issue. I replaced all 4 door lock actuators shortly after buying the truck and my front passenger window is also super slow. There have been a couple times where it stalled out halfway up or didnt even attempt to roll the window up when I hit the button but everytime, it's back to it's slow self a few minutes later. I recall a few times where it magically worked at faster than normal speed but these three instances are rare. 95% of the time, it's just slow.
It's been like this 16 months now and whenever it does finally quit for good, I plan to install a new lift motor but I had never thought about it being the track till this post. I just assumed the now 12 year old motor is getting weak but now im curious which it is.
Autozone.com shows two styles of window lift motor for my truck. Looks like one is motor only and the other is motor & track. $54 vs $107. I'd assume if you did the door lock actuator yourself, you could get this too.
Im having this issue as well! it suddenyl got slow, i did not replace anything in the door yet though. But i got my window motor replaced and it is still slow so i took it back got another new one and still just as slow as before. How can you adjust the track or what could possibly fix this? Another thing is it goes normal speed until about halfway down then goes super slow if that makes any sence....i dont understand why but its been buging the crap out of me lol.
Have you tried lubing the tracks? I've read on here that some have lubed where the glass slides and it makes it go quicker. I'm about ready to look into mine as well.
You can lube the window tracks along the sides with silicone spray, but you'll still probably have to remove the door panels to get at the slides on the inside of the door. My 07 Expy had a terrible issue with the windows being EXTREMELY slow going up and down. I used a synthetic grease to lube the window tracks inside the door where the rails were and where the track cables ran through their seats. Fixed em right up. Pull the door panel and lube the crap out of the track rails with some synthetic grease and see if that helps out.
I just had to align the track on my manual windows. It was very hard to roll down once you got 2/3s the way down. No idea what the PO might have done before me, but I know he was in the door once. My hinge side vertical guide rail (? lol) needed to be twisted out at the bottom, to get the window to move smoothly. I actually wedged a washer in there when tighting the bolt back up to get the angle I needed.
So anyways check the position of those guide rails, loosen up the bolts for em so they can move a bit and see if it improves the window speed.
