That's true...You really can never have TOO much air...but extra air really doesn't do much as long as your burning what fuel you do have...
Nice air box, I like it... how cool do your IAT's stay with it on top of the engine like that? I've been kicking around something similar but a little different...
Thanks. I went with the aluminum diamond plate to help reflect heat rather than absorb it and it cools much quicker than steel. The box itself stays cool enough to touch at any given time. There's actually quite a bit of room under the box for air to circulate. Both lines are a "ram air" set up at the moment but when I get the time and $ I'm going to run the back line to the cowl like I had originally planned. Haven't measured the IAT's but the EGT's dropped a good 150/200 degrees from what they were running under same driving conditions.
Yeah it's a K&N. Model RE-0880. Bought it at Summit Racing. I basically found the filter I wanted then built the box around it. I think it was about $70.??
Thanks.. And living in the desert you need all the help you can get on the EGT's. With the factory system, when pulling my boat or pulling a hill with my foot hard on the pedal it was normal to hit 1100. Now I really have to try to make that happen. Sounds like a jet engine when she's loaded up and with the straight pipe, you can really hear the turbo scream. I like it. The people I'm passing with their windows down and my tip pointed at them, not so much. LOL I've been flipped off a time or two. LOL

Once you add a Banks SideWinder to your truck, the sound changes completely! I went from what sounded like a REALLY loud big block gasser to a UPS truck or semi. I don't have the low, bird flock scaring, thunder as before but I do have a hell of a turbo whistle. I can hear the turbo whistle at idle and it gets louder as soon as I touch the accelerator. Adding a turbo definitely perks up these trucks and gives them some get and go!
Thanks. The biggest thing in any intake mod is to get the air from outside the engine bay. I've seen too many people that think the jobs done if you just put a big filter on, when in fact they've actually cost themselves everything they were hoping to gain by sucking in a bunch more air, a bunch more HOT ENGINE BAY AIR!! lol
