I am going to wire in a set of backup lights to one of the aux switches, as well as run my tidy tank pump of another aux switch. Can i hook my lights right to the wire off the aux switch? The switches are relayed and fused already right? Or do i need to run my switch wire to a relay and go from there to the lights?
The wires ends are stowed above the parking brake pedal. Not to be confused with the pass thru wires (blue, black, red, white)that are stowed there and the other end is above the brake master cyl.
All you need to do is hook them up to the orange wires (upfitter wires) Rusty, I believe he already has the harness since the switches are already there.Look at picture 14 of below post. Installing Upfitter Switches - Ford 2005-2007 Superduty
Those are the wires to tie into. Again they should be stowed at emerg brake pedal just at the knee panel. They are only on when key is in the run position or running. Plan accordingly. Use the pass thru wires to run wires outside the cab.
I do have the harness and switches already, i just wasnt sure if it was fused and relayed. On my 7.3's i have to run battery power to a relay and to my own switch and whatever i am trying to run. This should be as simple as splicing 1 or two wires! Just a matter of wiring the pass thru wires to my lights and into the switch.
If you do some digging you will find what each switch is rated at.
That way you are not popping fuses all the time.
Also watch out for the other wires under there. You will also
find the ones for the PTO/HIGH IDLE Mod in the same area.
The link that was given should give the info that you need.
They are fused and have relays. But you still have an amperage limit that needs to be considered. IIRC #1 & 2 are 30A, and #3 & 4 are only 10A. (check your owners manual) Also, the pass-thru wires are not heavy enough for a 30A load.
Outdoormaniac,
Check out these LED backup lights. Uses less than 2 amps. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l-today-2.html
See post 27 & 28 Parts list on post 30. Might save you some loading on batts if engine not running. I found some switches that snap directly into the holes on each side of the bed near the tailgate. Hell of a work light.
Available at Etrailer. Don't forget the mounting rings and connectors. Total app $60.
That is a tidy setup...i like that. There is a set of backup lights with the tail lights in the aluminum headache rack on the truck now. I was hoping to mounts 3 5" tractor lights with flood bulbs on them and wire them to a switch for use when im fueling or hookin up to the gooseneck or strapping loads...so i was hoping to keep them high up, and have something i can pivot and adjust.
I like lights! I have 8 LED tail lights on my 2002, plus the 3 rear markers....
