left work today and trans was and still is slipping really bad. taking off in first even with EASY throttle input it will easily rev to 3k rpm. there were a couple times that i was running 55mph and turning 2500rpm in 3rd gear conveter unlocked. the conveter does not want to lock up at all. when it does lock it is a very slow engagement. each gear no matter what kind of throttle input revs out to 3k rpm then has a very firm shift. no o/d light flashing.
fluid level is good, color is good, smells good, temps are good.
Thats the route i went, i hate autos and they cost too much to rebuild, when i got my truck i found out it was on its 2nd trans and it turned out the one i set to the scrapper was a amco lifetime warranty... too bad i didnt have any paper work to go with it,
than i just found out the trans computer is worth money.... LOL didnt even think about that LOL.
are you sure a particular gear was slipping? which one?
if you manually shift into first and second,do the those gears feel strong then?
if the converter doesn't lock up,and you enter 4th gear, the ecm should toss code 62,the OD light should be flashing, the trans should be in limp mode, and have very firm, late shifts.but your not getting OD (4th) gear at all?
did you already inspect and clean the solenoid pack plug?
you say the trans was "still" slipping badly.when did it first happen?

each gear holds on way to long no matter what throttle input. first gear is the worst. 1st will go out to 3k rpm and will hang on till about 25mph. i was usually letting off the throttle each time i wanted a shift. that seemed to help get it in gear at a nicer rpm/speed ratio.
i am going back out later tonight and i will try to manually shift 1,2 and see what happens.
normally i could feel the converter lock in 3rd and then lock up again in o/d. i could not feel any lock up at any time on the way home today.
the o/d light is not blinking. never lit up at all. i was waiting for that little ******* to show it's ugly face, but he never did. it is defiantly NOT in limp mode. i have unfortunately had that a number of times.
it will eventually "fall" into OD if i maintain throttle position at 55mph. then once it does fall into od, converter locked rpms are like normal.
i will inspect the solenoid pack plug tomorrow.
i meant that the trans started slipping as soon as i left work today and did not change by the time i got home. everything was fine this morning and showed zero signs of anything being wrong.
oh ok.well first thing is,your trans isn't slipping at all.so that's good news.
probably a bad TPS by the sounds of it.i never liked your passed voltage postings anyway.looks like you'll be making sure it's all good now.
fyi,
the converter locks up in 3rd gear and remains there.you shouldn't feel it unlock/lock during an OD shift.you should feel it unlock/lock during a OD to 3rd downshift under load though.
if its not a bad ground,or a faulty TPS id be surprised.whatever it is,it's just an electrical gremlin by the sounds of it.not a slipping trans.so that's good.
If you find the wires on the passenger side (solenoid pack) are bad I found a place that sells replacement plugs with pig tails...Hope yours is an easy fix, Mines started to shutter last week and Friday I started to feel a vibration too so now I get to do a full rebuild myself...Its gonna be really fun
maybe just a failing converter there kobaltblue.no point in replacing clutch packs if their not slipping.a converter is pricey enough.
catch the failing converter now, before she takes out the packs, and who knows what else, and you'll probably be good to go.perhaps toss an aux filter in line for a bit,for good measure.thats what id do if i experienced those symptoms.fortunately,i was able to replace the failure prone e40d converter with a good one from racerx before i run into the issue.
I am wondering if my 4R100's converter is starting to fail, its not throwing any codes. I can get it to slam into the next gear once in a while for some reason, like the pump aint got any fluid then all of a sudden there it is and it jumps. The guys at the V10 forum said PO put a tune into the ECM, which is incorrect. I was thinking its either a failing converter or pump because of the fact that most of the time it shifts like new, although when it shifts to overdrive you cant even feel it except when the converter is locked in 4th. It just slides into OD most of the time, is there a way to firm up the shifts and maybe increase line pressure or something?
Mine was doing the samething but only when it rained. The switch for the shift lever (neutral safety switch) was going bad. Them I had to replace the PSOM. No Od light flashing either.

i tried shifting it manual 1,2, then into o/d. 1 and 2 felt strong when manually shifting them. this morning the trans worked fine.
the reason i have had my tps readings so low is b/c if i set it to a higher voltage then the trans shifts way later and firmer, but i guess i will try adjusting it again. would be really nice if i could get it to kick down sooner and easier.
