I noticed a small fuel leak under my 76 f250 yesterday. I looked today, and its leaking from the outlet. No big deal, I will replace the short rubber line. I started taking the hose clamp off, and the whole outlet was loose. I pulled and it slid right out. How is this supposed to attach to the pump? Its not threaded. Was it just tapped in there with a mallet? I can't believe its not one piece, should have been just a nipple on the side to attach the line.

The outlet is a 5/16" inverted flare. The fitting is crimped and/or soldered onto the pump and isn't considered repairable. This is for the pumps that don't have the filter canister. The pumps that have the integral filter are tapped for 1/8" NPT pipe thread and use a brass fitting that can be tightened down.

I have the canister on mine, the one with a filter inside right? This means mine should have the threaded end?

Yeah, this is what your pump should look like. The inlet on the left is a 3/8" hose nipple and it's pressed in. The outlet on the right is tapped for 1/8" NPT and has a brass fitting screwed into it to adapt it to the 5/16" inverted flare to match the hard line to the carb.
