Is it possible, that my pre-pump filter, is causing a post-pump fuel leak? Saw it the other day, and thought nothing of it, maybe water from the curb/drainage, throughout the street, but this morning, its wet and smells like diesel. Its wet after the pump, at the connection, also the "blue" cover over the fuel line, is soaked also cracked/cracking. The pump is wet, frames' "shiney", hoses around the pump are "clean" looking, from the "spray" of diesel, i believe.
What you guys think, i was thinking fire it up, and take a peak while idling, see if i see anything noticeable? If it is at the fitting of the pump, is it an o-ring in the connection, or a possible connection going bad, and if so, whats the rememdy besides installing a new fuel line, from pump to fuel bowl. Wait, i think theres a "soft hose" mid section, of the line, before it turns up along the back of motor...either way, any idea to replace the factory connection with something else?
I disconnected mine from the discharge of the pump, removed the line from the frame mounts, cut the tubing with tubing cutters and I installed Goodyear hose with good hose clamps. If my pump ever gives up it will be easy to change.
Cool, thanks guys. I got the seperating tool. Gonna fire it up now, and take a look.
If you have someone to cycle the key to keep the fuel pump running you don't have to "fire it up". Pump will run approximately 20 seconds each time you turn key to ON. If you're fast you should be able to spot a leak in 20 seconds without help.

i took a gander at it, this morning, before leaving. With truck running, didnt see a "visual" leak, but that blue cover stuff and the, what looks to be a s.s. braided line, under the blue cover, is soaked. I'll have my daughter, cycle it in the morning with me under it....wife and keys are like oil and water
You are right. There is a braided hose that will connect to the hard tubing going to the filter housing.I cut the tubing with small tubing cutters and installed the Goodyear hose there.I have the Goodyear hose on the suction of the pump as well.I can loosen two hose clamps and remove the pump if needed......besides the hot wire and clamp for the pump.

Sweet! i'll remove the blue covering today, trace the braided line til it meets the hardline, chop it off there, and install regular fuel injected line. You think ishould "flare" the the cut hardline, so the hose wot/cant pop off, under pressure?

If you have a double flaring tool, you can cut the line and add a small ball, or knot, to the end by using the double flare insert only in the tubing. I have done this on fuel and trans lines. Just adds a little "piece of mind". A single flare on the end may cut the rubber inside as you push it on.

i know what ur say'n. i dont think so, but will check. Nope, single flare. Think i'll get one though, will need it in upcoming project..
