I delete mine for a very different reason. in the summer when its warm out and there is a supply I have been knowen to run atf mixed fuel.
It sticks, I dont suggest it, it lacks btu, but I drive a lot and it works so/so... o ya and milage drops off too.

Why mix fuel with ATF? I read/hear of people doing this and it just doesn't make sense to me on why you would want to do it in the first place.
hehehe. Im cheep. the only reason.
I can get atf from good units reclaim it and burn it. no other reason then to reduce the cost of my trip to from work.
droping an injector or a fuel pump for me is not a big deal. Im willing to take the risk envolved with doing it mostly because I can fix it when it dies and im not trying to make a living with my truck.
I know this much when my truck was new 22mpg's the best it has ever done , all stock . Now with welded cooler , 285-75's which aren't that much bigger than stock and shell on it 16-18 mpg's . So IDK why the diff , but it was best all stock .

Anyone of those changes could have lowered it, maybe difference in driving style, quality of fuel.
The thing is, there are a lot of variables that go into MPG calculations that it's hard to get beyond this line of reasoning: "I did "A", I observed "B", so therefore, "A" caused "B"".
That's pretty weak evidence, I could think of a scenario that would fit that line of reasoning, but I would hope all here wouldn't think that it's true.
Although, I do remember when Matt (Spartan Diesel) was contributing more to this sub-forum, he said that most of his customers were saying that they were getting better mileage with the valve left on instead of electronically being shut off. Now there are a lot of things that you could argue about that and why that would happen, but it's just an interesting little tidbit. It does follow the same logical reasoning quoted above.
