Best Block?

I am ready to get a block bored for my 410 build. I have 4 standard blocks.

C6ME-A
C7ME-A
D4TE

391 truck block (can't get to casting numbers)

Which should I use?

Whichever one will clean up with the smallest overbore.
Alternatively, look around the main webbing. Whichever one looks the beefiest, and cleans up at the smallest overbore.

Agree with Rogue, I would start with the D4TE if I were doing it. That should be a reverse image 105 block.

All are standard. The 3 FE block webs look similar. The FT still has the pan. Why is the reverse 105 better?

According to Berry Rabotnick the 105's had a reinforced main web design...the benefits are modest at best apparently.

I'm going to use the D4TE block bored .030 over, standard 1U crank, C1AE heads, FT exhaust manifolds, Edelbrock Streetnaster intake, 650 CFM manual choke Edelbrock, stock 390 rods, and THESE pistons.

I may use THESE pistons if I can get the cc spec.

I may use THIS cam or I might get a custom ground cam.

Yes use the D4 block, as it has the extra main saddle webbing in it..If your going to go to a bigger cam, aluminum intake, bump the CR up some...I didnt look at the piston specs, nor to see if the heads are stock CC's, and if your going to deck the block to get your desired CR along with gasket thickness ? Ditch the stock exhaust logs ! They weigh a ton and are like pissing thru a straw, you wont get much of anything out of your after market breathing parts with stock logs,Some guys like the Edelbrock carbs..to me there a POS..I only run Holleys..But thats just me.. You can pick up a set of Hedman headers for just over a $150, and I have run mine for 40 years now..Also I wouldnt waste the money on a custom ground camshaft with just a warmed over build as your doing..If it was a Preo-street build or track only..I might go that route depending on where I wanted the Tq to come in at ? and how far I wanted to spin the motor with the parts I have, within there grenade range ! JMO..Good luck...

I will probably just use the Elgin cam. I might call around on custom cams. The FT manifolds are a lot bigger than normal FE manifolds. I don't really like headers.

I will start with a 650 Edelbrock. I have a good assortment of holley's to try out to. I love having spare parts.
