97 F350 460, OBD 1 or 2?

Anyone know if a 97 F350 would be OBD-I or OBD II? I know the diesels stayed OBD-I through 2K at least, and, converting the 460 to OBD-II for one or 2 model years wouldn't really have made sense(although they did it with the 300.) I need to pull the codes out of one, and haven't seen the truck yet...

I would be willing to bet it is OBD II. Look for the data port. I doubt if Ford made a special wiring harness for a non-compliant truck because it was a 460. The 95 diesels were made with the OBD port but weren't OBD compliant.

I think 95 or 96 was the transition year from OBD1 to 2. ASo yours should be a 2.

The port is usually just under the dash on the drivers side.

All 96 and newer are OBD II. Some 95's met the standard, and some had the connector but it wasnt used. The heavy vehicles, 8500lb GVW and above, I believe, dont require a catalyst monitor, so no rear O2 sensor.

I don't have a rear O2 sensor, is mine OBD I or II? It is a 97 F250 with a 460 and E40D.

I know my uncle's 00 F350 has OBD-I written on the Navistar engine spec. sticker on the valve cover. I haven't checked the pin count though.
I still haven't gotten my hands on that 97, but, I likley will this week.

it will still use the obd II diagnostic connector, standardized codes, and names. It will have the ability to pinpoint a cylinder misfire, and all the other perks, just no catalyst monitor.

I finally got to look at the truck, and, my hunch was right, it's OBD 1, no diagnostic port under the dash anywhere, so, I popped the hood, and the old EEC-IV test point greeted me, on the drivers side fender, with the same old connector I've always dealt with(same connector my long dead 84 F150 with a feedback carb and TFI-IV had... LOL), computer is the old 60 pin unit. It is definatley NOT OBD-2 equipped.
