i bought my 2005 SD and the previous owner installed an HID kit and now all of a sudden the right one works for about 5 minutes then goes out turn off lights for a while then same thing... any ideas what it could be? i can hear the box buzzing just like the other side... cant find any loose connections...
this is my first run in with HID lights
if nothing else i will go back with stock lamps but he cut off the factory connectors... does anyone know where i can get them or if its a whole harness thing...
Do this before you buy a new ballast
Swap the lamps right to left and see if the
problem stays or goes with the lamp.
The buzz is the high voltage trying to start the lamp
It takes a high voltage to kick it 10Kv + the lamp
normally runs at about 90 Volts give or take some on both.
If the problem goes with the lamp it's the lamp that is bad
not the ballast. If it stays then it's the ballast.
I got mine from this guy
High Tech Auto Accessory Inc D2S, H4-2 Motor items in HIGH TECH AUTO ACCESSORY INC store on eBay!
He sells on Ebay. I got the ones I put in my ranger from them
and now the ones I put in my F350. I had a problem with one of the
ballasts and they are sending a new replacement.
The really nice thing is the ballasts they use don't make noise on the AM band.
Unlike some of the cheeper ones
