Service Intervals using time

I have an 09 I change the oil, filter and rotate the tires according to time, (every 6 months) as I only put on ruffly 4K a year in mileage. So having said that what intervals according to time (not mileage) would be good for changing tran fluid, coolant, diff fluid, transfer case, fuel filter, plugs,..etc etc...

Or do I stick with the mileage schedule for these. I mean I will go 12 years to reach 50K mileage.

I had posted this info in the V10 section on someone elses thread,,, I know bad juju. But His thread was about some service issus as well and I did say sorry. But I recv'd no responces so I am trying over here.

Thanks

Transmission fluid doesn't break down Like oil can, but it will. I would probably change every 2 years. Mostly depends on how the color of the fluid looks in the trans.

The diffs I wouldn't worry so much about but change them at the correct mileage interval more than likely.

Plugs i would change at mileage interval also. Just keep aware of the COP boots cause they can weather crack during the time it sits.

Coolant I would change also on mileage interval.

The fuel filter is something I'm unsure about. If the truck sits without stabil fuel stabilizer I would change it once a year because of gas break down. I change my filters every 10,000 in my V10. Some say that's too much some say it's too late.

I couldnt agree with you more. As far as coolant they say up to 5 yrs but I would do it every three as it is pretty cheap. Engine oil if it is systhetic once a yr and just change out filter ever 6 months.

Ya I've seen vehicle that are 3 years old without coolant change and it's nasty! I seem to change my before every winter or every other winter and I've never had an issue with the truck running hot or bad leaks in the system. A good coolant flush when u change the fluid is also nice to do cause it keeps all the gunk out.

Also as cheap as it is throw a new thermostat in it. Just so you dont have issue of it ever sticking on you.

I was thinking about every 4 years myself on the coolant, tranny fluid and the fuel filter. Do them at the same time. The truck never gets used to even half of its full potential.
