Hi guys,I'm new here,I've got a 1990 ford f350 2 wheel drive crew cab long box and a 1990 f250 standard cab long box 4by4 and am wanting to end up with a crew cab 4by4,my question is,do i swap cabs and bob/chop the bed? or can i put a straight axle in the f350 and swap tranny and t-case into the f35o?f350 has coil and shock suspension where as the f250 has leaf spring suspension. I hope I am in the right forum,if not I apologise to all.thanks for your time guys and any advice or pointers would be appreciated. I am in washington,I called dol {department of licensing} today, its a $250 inspection fee and a 3 week wait to have it inspected if i go through the proper channels, anyone have thoughts or ideas on that?

You're in the right forum but you're hijacking someone else's thread which is kinda a no-no. But we won't flame ya too bad for it. Also try searching as 2wd to 4wd conversions have been covered several times.

If you want an uber-short bed the crew cab on the F250 frame would be cool and probably easier. A D60 swap into the F350 would be more practical. You can swap the trans into the F350 IF both trucks have the same engine series; small block, big block, or diesel. If the bolt pattern matches than you're good to go otherwise you'll need to find the right tranny or go through the hassle of swapping a 4wd tailhousing onto the 2wd tranny. The T-case will bolt to any 4wd trans of the era.

It probably would be easier to switch cabs but if you are for a challenge I would change front axle transmission and transfer case thats what I am doing except it is off a regular cab going onto a crew cab.

sorry about that, not quite sure how to make my own thread, not familiar with the site.I have all of the f250 4by4 ,there sitting next to eachother, pretty much stripped the f250 to build the f350 into 4by4 then realised the front of the frames were different.will the d60 bolt into the f350 with the coil and shock suspension?ive had my eye on the f350 for about 3 years and finally got the guy to sell it to me,

The New Thread tab is near the top towards the left side of the screen right on top of all the threads.

You'll need to mount leaf spring hangers for a 4x4 F350 to hang the D60, that's what most guys do. You could add coil spring perches to the D60 and try and make that work but I haven't seen anyone go that route before.

I think you need to weld them on but not sure make up your own thread and tell us all of the specifications on all of the trucks you are using then we can tell you more informtaion. But like burnout400m says you are interrupting somebodys thread not to be rude or anything but thats the rules. In the right hand cornor there is a tab that says new thread click that and type away.
