I VERY HIGHLY recommend taking your time, going through it all..Replacing all the Bushings, etc...U-Joints and whatnot..Stuff that gets gnarly while it's on the truck..
And Wirewheeling and painting it all..With Valspar Ant-Rust Corrosion Armor paint...
I think I will go with black in that paint. Maybe gloss black? Should look pretty sharp when it's all cleaned up and painted with all new parts.
Replacing pretty much everything in the Dana 44 except for the Calipers, Hubs, and Rotors. Found those to be basically brand new. Previous owner apparently replaced those things. And not replacing the Front Differential gears either, they are in great shape. No metal shavings.
Also discovered that the 4x4 AOD tranny has a brand new Pump in it.

Looking good, Wes! Keep me updated on your 4x4 conversion progress.
Why are you not just going to swap the entire rear axle?
To replace all the bearings, seals, etc...And completely redo the whole thing is about $500 or so dollars...And I don't have the tools to do so with...So even more cost..

Just gonna go the cheaper route...
True... Well whatever works then.
My stepdad has air powered tools, making this conversion a lot easier. However, we have run into a few bolts that need heating with the oxy torch before blasting them off with the impact wrench.
