X code ?'s
I replaced the V codes with a set a X codes with under 5000 miles on them. Now they have about 50000 mules on them and they are flat. My friend has his factory X codes with over 200,000 miles on them and they still are arched. My truck is a ex-cab sb. His is a reg cab lb. Is there that much more weight on the front axle of my truck?

Your friend has the 7.3L? Long or short bed? If he's gas, big difference. If not, the longer wheelbase makes a difference as well. My wife is looking on CL for a cab-over camper and I'm looking on the web to replace my flat springs since I bought it at 220K. This project will be waaay down the calendar for me, because I have injectors on my short list.

Are the x codes from Ford or aftermarket? Have you checked the part numbers on the springs to confirm they are x codes? How much weight did the previous owner have on the springs? Just because they had low miles on them when you got them, were they abused by the PO?

What shape are the bushings in?
Perhaps a fluke issue. I'd get them re-arched and install new bushings before dropping coin on new springs.

I actually just installed X-codes this spring, got a used set off a junker. They gave ,e about 2" of lift...and are very much NOT flat..... I'm guessing fluke, or just a lot of use.
If you have a shop that can re-arch them, I'd say that's probably your best bet.

Must be a fluke. When he gave them to me they still looked like they just came off his truck. When I first put them on they had some arch. But now after a couple years they are flat. Ill have to look into getting them re-arched.
