What the Heck. I've been beating on the caliper key for over an hour. I've been soaking it in pb blaster, bolt off, wd-40, and liquid wrench. who has ideas?

I'm tempted to cut the thing out, and buy a new one... If I could find one that is...

WD-40 is not a penetrating oil; it's a lubricant.

PB Blaster can take a few days to do its magic if the rust is really bad. Soak it several times a day for a few days. After that, pound at it with a BFH and a brass drift.

Caliper key should drive out with a punch and hammer. Use a big punch, the bigger the better. Small punches don't transmit the force and shock like big ones. Same with the hammer, use a big one. In this situation, using a small hammer and punchl is the same as just tapping on it.
New ones are available at just about any parts store.

Drive it out from the backside. Trying to drive it from the front, it will hit the steering linkage. I found out the hard way......
I can go either way on my 80, but the steering linkage happens to be in front of the wheel.

I tried the wd-40 after everything else, I figured it couldn't hurt.

I spent endless time on mine and then all of the sudden it started to move as I keep pounding with the BFH.

so when I called O'reilly and Autozone, they said the didn't have it... wrong answer.

found it at Napa
NAPA AUTO PARTS

so I looked at Autozone
Duralast/Brake Disc Hardware Kit - Front (H5545) | 1977 Ford F250 3/4 ton P/U 4WD 8 Cylinders J 7.5L 4BL OHV | AutoZone.com

morons.

took about 2.5 minutes with a cutting disk on the 4" grinder. New ones going in. SO MUCH EASIER (not to mention faster).

I have used the hot wrench in the past on some of the nasty ones. not good for the calipers, but they were also getting rebuilt. I did'nt realize you could get new ones.

this truck has barely been used the last 8 years. new calipers are going in, new pads, new rotors, regreased wheel bearings, pass side is getting a new spindle. Should be nicer when I'm done.
