Tranny problem

I have a 1999 F-250 Super Duty with &.3 Diesel. I was not pulling anything just driving normal. After I made probably my 4th stop of the day cranked engine backed out of parking place put truck in drive it went no where. It will barely move in low if you rev motor. I then had it towed home. Any ideas??? Truck has 208000 miles but has been welled maintained. I bought the truck new. Oh yes meant to say reverse still works perfectly.

Something failed in the forward clutch. Will it move in 1 or 2?

On the drivers side there is a MLPS or transmision range sensor you can check the connections on the linkage and the wiring harness for issues.

Mark knows this buisness very well so post your findings and when he logs on he can help you some more.

It won't hurt to check that, but it's a waste of time. You can throw the MLPS away and it will still engage in drive.

Something broke in the forward clutch. The trans has to come out and be rebuilt or replaced.
