I have a 2000 f350 i put a stock turbo on it has no chip it is all stock minus an aftermarket intake witch is soon to go and 4 inch exhaust with a muffler. when i rev it up to around 1500-2000rpm it sounds like there is a restriction and it does not sound like it builds boost. i do not have any gauges on it. but when i let off the throttle there is like a whoosing noise or something is opening. what else could it be besides the ebpv?

 

When you rev it at idle or when you stomp on it while driving? You're not going to build boost by revving the motor in park or neutral. Depending on what type of air intake set up you have, you may just be hearing the turbo. Open element filters tend to make more noises than closed in set ups.

 

the same turbo and intake setup was on my 99 when i bought it i swapped it out for my 38r and 6637 off my 00, and my 99 never made this noise when i reved it up. but on my 00 it makes this noise. if i steadily rev it up it sounds like there is a restriction somewhere and when i let off it sounds like something opens? idk if this is normall never had a 7.3 that was stock.

 

EBPV is the only thing I can think of that makes a whooshing noise, but I'm no expert. Without some kind of boost gauge or MAP output reading, we're operating with a cane and a cup.

auto trans. but if it is the ebpv then why is it closing when i rev it up?

 

mine makes it with aftermarket intake when i let off it sounds like it farting when i get on it after giving it he//
