ok got in my truck this evening to head back home from the lake. hadnt run in a day or so. everything was find and dandy all the way to my buddies house. left there and headed to get something to eat. on the way there i gave the truck alittle gas and it made a slight squeeking noise. it was only under throttle that it would do it and only for a split second. its still the same now after letting the truck cool. it sounds like a turbo problem. if you ease into the throttle there is no noise. boost is fine. but if you give it more than 35-40% thats where you hear the noise for a split second. and the noise is right before the turbo boost. (during the lag period) Im 99% sure its not the belt or pullies because i have heard those and normally they will do it all the time. what do yall think. is the turbo going south?
Take the turbo apart and clean it.there's a write up on it in the tech folder.you can also pull the intake tube off the turbo and grab the compressor wheel and check to see if it has excessive up and down play,a slight amount is ok,anything more than that and its time for a rebuild.also pull the outlet off to and look in there for anything out of place, like metal shavings.
Another thought is that one of the ypipe bellows might be splitting OR you have a tiny leak in a CAC hose causing a whistle up to a certain point. Does it happen at a specific boost level or psi?
no i cant get it to stay steady at all. this morning it did it under regular throttle up just getting out of my subdivision. like i was as light on the throttle as i could have been. ill check the boots but its kinda hard because it only will do it under throttle so looking for bubbles would be hard and y pipe was replaced when heads were done and again maybe 4 months ago
