Hey guys for those of you that have lifted trucks i need some advice. I currently am running a stage two procomp lift, which is 2 shocks with a coil over spring in the middle. I have had it for about 3 years on the truck but i have been kicking the idea around of replacing the suspension with something else. It is sooo stiff im tired of it beating the heck out of me. I talked to 4wheel parts about it and they said its just the nature of having a lift. I knew it would be stiffer but is there nothing out there thats softer on the road? Anyone else running a lift that their suspension isnt beating the heck out of em, what are you running? Thanks yall
Not really a lift but a levelling kit. I have the Billstein kit and it came with 4 new shocks and 2 front coils. Lifted the front end by 2-1/4", improved the factory ride dramatically and allows me to run 12.5x35" Toyo Open Country tires. I also added the Billstein dual stabilizer kit and an adjustable pan rod to control the front axles tracking.... works good and I have had it now for just over 5 years.
I've got the Rancho 2.5" leveling kit up front. It uses new front radius arms, shocks, and springs. I drive a lot of gravel roads and it rides well for a big truck.
I got a fabtech 6" lift. An yes, it rides kinda rough. Don't mind that because my truck looks good. These trucks were built to work not to ride like a Cadillac.
hmm ill have to check into the Icon ones see what they ahve and how they would fit. Ya I get its not going to ride like a cadillac but closer to stock would be a nice benefit.
You really want to talk to a company that deals in shocks
Billstein would be my best pick. Talk to there tech guys.
They should have a way to adjust things to better.
Ya i need to check into it. Anyone know of a good place in houston besides 4wheel parts im tired of dealing with those guys who can do the installation?
My front leafs are Donahoe Racing as well, but they were leftover stock and I purchased from Icon after the name change. There was a transition there when Icon shifted from using Deaver springs to making their own, but the ride quality and warranty didn't change.
only run 2 shocks up front instead of 4....ride will improve. We have an o4 with a 6 in lift and had quad shocks, we dropped 2 and changed to bilstiens, now she rides nice!
