Alright Ive been a member for a little bit now and recently bought my first truck a 2001 Ford F350 Lariat Super duty CC LB 7.3 Diesel. so back to the title i bought the truck from a used car dealer and yes they rebuilt the transmission and put a seal on the rear axle and the truck runs great only thing they didn't fix is the door locks. so to my point i fixed the door locks. so hear is my story i was at the dealer asking about a service special rotate the tire change the oil top off all fluids. i didn't know the door locks weren't working when i bought the truck but wasnt that big of a deal for me so while at the dealer i asked how much it would be to fix the door locks and what they told me is they would haft to test the doors to see if it was the door lock actuators or the switch. i was pretty sure it was the actuators but still wanted to know how much that would cost. surprisingly it was a whopping 90$ just for a test so i said no thanked them for the info and left i wasn't going to pay 90$ for that so after i got home i decided to try the lock/unlock switch after pressing the switch on the driver side and passenger side door hearing a click in all the doors i determined it to be the actuator. so i decided to go to a different for dealer down the road. the first dealer was a couple cities over about a 20 minute drive. after arriving at the second dealer to ask how much it would cost to replace the actuators and make a copy of my truck key so i have a spare at home. after getting the spare i was told it would be 250$ to replace one actuator. yea not happening so i thanked them and left after arriving at home i tried the OEM ford key made at the dealer from my key i received when i bought the truck only to find out the key doesn't work so it being 5 o'clock already i decided the nest day i would go back and get my money back.i decided cutting machines that are automatic. you know they place they key in press start and wait for it to finish cutting the blank. are not the machine to cut my keys anymore. I decided ace hardware is a good place to go get my keys cuts this time I drove my truck to try the key at the ace parking lot. It worked and was half the price. a little off topic i know but back to the door locks. so after looking at another thread on how to repair the actuator with no cost . seemed a little complicated so i decided to replace them and not haft to worry about trying to glue the actuator back together or how ever he fixed his. so after looking online at autozone for my vehicle make model year and engine i found the actuators to be 45 dollars a piece around 200 bucks cheaper than the dealer. so i call to see if the local auto zone has 2 right hand actuators in stock and 2 passenger actuators in stock they only had 1 passenger side actuator in stock so i bought it. after calling 4 other auto parts stores i finally found the final 3 actuator and went and picked them up this all cost me 200$ 50 dollars cheaper than one actuator at the dealer. after arriving home i looked up a video on how to replace the actuators. so i started removing the door panels and the plastic covering. after finding the door actuator pulled out the actuator and compared the new one from the OEM there was a slight difference between them the new one were a little smaller but same design so after replacing the drivers door actuator i plugged in the lock/unlock switch and pressed the lock switch. it worked so after putting the plastic covering back on the door i put the panel back on and continued to replace the rest about a hour and half later i was finally done and they all lock and unlock. so yes this thread was long but it thought i would let you know you know there are a few different ways to replace the actuators 1. Dealer repair A costly repair but repaired by Ford Mechanics. 2. repair it your self buy the actuators that fit your vehicle at your local auto parts store. 3. the method the other guy used to fix his actuators which was no cost. so just thought i would post this fix i did in case any other members were having problems with their door lock actuators

I don't really want to behave like the grammer police, but I was getting lost in the middle. I did this for my eyes and just decided to post it - I hope I don't offend. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!
Nice post. it just proves there is more than one way to skin a cat. also nice to see the aftermarket guys have the actuators. Might be a lower price option
