Transmission Advise

About 3 months/1500 miles ago my tranny started shifting weird and temp jumped from 150 to about 190 degree's quickly all in same drive home. Drove it EASY home about 8 miles and temp never got any hotter. Fluid was in need of changing so I did fluid and filter. Since doing this it has been fine for the most part. Occasionally there is an increased delay going into reverse and I have gotten a 2-3 shift/incorrect gear ratio code (only 3 times in 1500 miles) since fluid/filter change. A couple of days ago right before pulling into my driveway it slipped for a second going uphill in 3RD or OD, I immediately let off of gas. Tranny temp was about 170 degree's. Seems fine now. Question: Should I try Transgo TuggerHD kit and larger cooler, or is it on borrowed time(Which is what I think)? Trying to put off replacement as long as I can. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I'm not auto transmission guru, but I don't see how a Transgo or any other shift kit will help with your problems. It may mask the symptoms for a bit with the firmer shifts, but it sounds like you've got some worn internals to deal with.
