I'm new to this site and could use some help. I have a 2006 f250 6.0L with 76,000 miles on it. And it just started to shift softer then normal under light throttle. The first to second to third shift are softer then normal. And the third to fifth gear shift seems to have a lot of what I would call overlap and some times it feels like it is slipping. Get's better under hard acceleration but not as firm as it used to be. I have always changed the trans fluid and filter every 25,000 miles. Trans temp runs about 150 to 160deg. I checked the fluid today and it's bright red and does not smell bad. And I don't have any coeds. Could it be a solenoid going bad ?
It could be. The first thing to try is to disconnect both battery negative terminals. Wait five minutes and reconnect them. This will clear the adaptive learning. It may have learned itself into a hole that it can't get out of. Normal driving will allow it to relearn what it needs to correct the shifts.
Thanks Mark. I did that on Friday after work. It did get a little better. But I only put about 60 miles on it today. just doesn't feel right. Do you think I should put some more miles on it to see if it gets better. If something is going bad in the trans I want to catch it early. Thanks again for your help.
Mark do you think I should try changing the external filter. The filter only has about 1,000 miles on it, I just did both the filters and fluid at 75,000 miles. Thanks

Sorry for not answering sooner. I refilled the trans with Motorcraft Mercon SP. I put another 100 miles on the truck and it's back to shifting funny. Dropped it off at Ford to have it checked out. I will post what I find out from Ford.

I know this is an old thread...if you are still on FTE, what was the solution?
