I need an e40d. I have a 96 f150 with a 302. A guy has a 92 f150 with a 351. Will the transmission from the 351 bolt onto my 302?
Thanks.
Yes, the solenoid pack connector and Neutral safety switch connector are different though. Swap over your old parts from your '96 transmission. Also the '92 trannies are not the best. Pumps prone to failure. I have one sitting in my garage with a bad pump, swapped it out for a '95 used model.
I dough that you have a E4OD in a 1996 F150 with a 302.
I would think you have a 4R70W transmission with the code on the door "U".
If so no a 1992 E4OD will not work.

I defenantly have an e4od. Trans code on the door is E.
Why do you think that I wouldnt have an e40d. I went to the junkyard and alot of the trucks there had e4ods and aods. They are only wanting $100 for a transmission at the pick it yourself yard, but all of the pans on the transmissions are bent from the forklifts that pick them up. And that makes me scared to drop 100 and have the internals be screwed from the forklifts.
Thougts? The other junkyards want 900 for a trans with a 90 day waranty.
I would think a 1996 would have to have been special ordered to have a E4OD but if your code is "E" then yes you should have the E4OD.
Before 1993 the E4OD was common with the 302.
A 302 and a 351 have the same bolt pattern so yes a transmission out of that 1992 would bolt up. But as said above the solenoid pack has a different plug because of the diode was moved from the transmission to the computer in 1995. The TR sensor may or may not have a different plug also depending on if it has the updated sensor or not.
But to get a good E4OD you need one from a 1997 as the 1997 had all the up grades.
If the pan is a little bent it's doubtful anything inside is broken. $900 for a junkyard trans is insane. I paid $300 for my '95 trans a few months back and it came with a 30-day warranty.
Yes my truck is a f150 special. It was ordered with 265 tires, and now I guess an e4od was ordered on it too....at this point I am thinking of ordering a rebuild kit and going at it. I aint rich, and am not having luck finding one.
I wouldn't call just a '97 E4OD the "good" one. 95-97 E4ODs are all quite solid, with them getting progressively better each year.
All the yards around here want top dollar for warrantied transmissions as well. To the point where it is actually cheaper to pick up a fully rebuilt transmission on E-Bay from a reputable builder.

i know where a 96 5.8 with an e40d is sitting.. guy wants 1100 for the whole truck just is a rusty sob in the bed.. 900 is way too much for a used tranny of this age..
