I've had my 4" strait pipe exhaust for 4+ years now and I love the sound except for the drone at certain highway speeds. Does anyone make a muffler that doesn't really cut down on the turbo whistle and the strait pipe sound but will get rid of the drone? Not in a rush to buy just doing research. Thanks in advance for everyones help!
Todd
I have the Walker BTM 21470, no drone, lower EGTs and $50 at Rockauto. Cost more to get it welded in. Sounds kinda crappy IMO. If something will finally rust out down there I'll have reason to get a 4".
Sure the drone is not the 6637? Mine can get obnoxious after a few hours. An AIS may be in the cards soon...

I'll just chime in here to offer my thoughts when I first read this:
I've heard the 6637 on another truck and it has an annoying whistle in the front. My truck has the AIS, so no whistle in the front.
I have a slight drone from the exhaust system (resonating rumble in the cab for readers unfamiliar with drone) when I am at a very specific speed and an elevated power load (lower RPM). Changing the speed or dropping out of OD gets rid of it.
My Flo Pro 6192 has a whistle that is more like "seasoning" for the sound. There are those with salt on their fries and those with fries on their salt. Non-diesel owners hear a truck whistling and think "Wow, that's a lot of whistle". The same people hear a truck with a subdued whistle (like on a semi) and they think "Wow, that's a big motor". It's a taste thing.
The drone is definitely from the exhaust. The 6637 does make more noise than the stock setup (i.e. whistle and intake suction) but I don't mind that at all.

Well for one thing it is not as loud as a straight pipe. I have noticed that they sound just a little different on each truck. I have two friends that went down and got them after they heard mine and depending on what mods you have, they will sound just bit different. If you go on you tube and search aero turbine mufflers on diesel trucks, you will be able to hear a number of different setups. I have not noticed but my wife said the truck became louder after I put my IH up pipes on a few months ago. I like the sound of the muffler and since the muffler has a wine to it as well it adds to the sound of the turbo IMHO.
