Muffler for my 4" Flo-Pro???

So while I'm waiting on my exhaust to arrive from NL, I need to start looking for the best muffler to put on it that will make it still sound like a diesel WOT, but have little to no drone at cruising and especially while towing a camper. I drove and towed with a straight pipe 6.0L...I'm done with not being able to hear myself think. Now granted, I understand these 6.7L are quieter to begin with over a 6.0L, but I'm still looking for little to no drone, for my family's sake.

As I said, I'd still like it to sound like a diesel WOT and even at idle. If possible, I'd like to hear the turbo as well (stock) if that's still doable on the '15s.

I've done a little research here and on the web. Sounds to me like I'd want to pick between the Donaldson or the MBRP Quiet Tone muffler. I know I'd be too lucky to find someone with real life experience with both setups on their truck, so I'd be happy with anyone that has ran either of these to just give some feedback with drone/sound WOT and towing.
From Youtube videos, the Donaldson sounds the quietest of the 2 even WOT. Of course both manufacturers state they eliminate all the annoying drone, but I'd like real life experience from someone if I can.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have an objection to trying the factory muffler first to see if it suits your needs? Supposedly it muffles very little sound. That's my plan when I do my weight loss.

You're referring to the small coffee can near the rear axle correct? I did ponder that for a moment. Curious to drone with that I guess.

I ran that one with just a DPF delete pipe for a while. It is actually decent. No drone, not much waste gate screech.

Ran straight pipe 4" for a while, no muffler. The drone was not bad but the waste gate screech was too terrible for me. Sounded like you were killing a thousand cats.

Now running a standard 8" round (4" in/out) straight thru fiberglass packed muffler. Pretty sure it's AFE but I think they are all pretty much the same. Works best for me. Fairly quiet at idle. Pretty loud at WFO. No drone. No waste gate screech. Can hear the turbo whistle (which I like).

Good luck

The one I now is very similar to the MBRP quiet tone.

My old F250 had a 4" exhaust on it, I installed a generic ebay purchased 4" in/out round aluminized muffler on it. No fancy name, just a good well built muffler, still in perfect shape when I sold the truck. I think it was around $65-$70.

FTE resonator or Flo Pro Twister are good choices.

I left the factory filter-back pipe on mine, but had a Donaldson in the garage floor on standby. There is no drone with my setup at any speed, or with any load I have pulled. As Darren mentioned though, the wastegate screech can be overbearing now and then, but only with the windows down. I'm running a straight 4" delete pipe back to the factory pipe that goes over the axle, with the coffee can and the factory tips, and like the sound. I can hear the turbo whistle, and a low rumble from the exhaust. At WOT, it is not obnoxiously loud.

Thanks! I put the down pipe back 4" Flo-Pro straight pipe on yesterday. Actually, it's not as loud as I thought it was going to be. Of course I'm coming from what may be the loudest straight pipe diesel there is (6.0) so I was somewhat expecting that noise.

I think I'm going to run it as is for now and see if it gets annoying. The test will be when I pull a load. But for now, I kind of like it!
