I cannot get the backup lights to come on when the vehicle is in reverse. The switch is adjusted all the way to the stop but it needs to go a little farther. I have even cut one of the mounting ears off to increase the range but it still is not enough. Is it possible the selector shaft is clocked wrong? I have tried two seperate switches with the same results. The trans was rebuilt just before I bought the truck and the lights have never worked. The wiring & lamps are OK. They light, just not when in reverse. I need to install a backup alarm & it has to be automatic (for loading dock access). Any Suggestions? "82 E350 box 351W & C6
The selector can only go in in one of two positions, and either way it would operate the switch. Do the lights come on at any other time? Also, you could just put a switch on it somewhere-
