I have a F100 Flareside that I just purchased a few days ago.
Checked the fuses and that fixed all the lighting in the front but the rear is still all messed up.
What the lights do is this:
Left turn switch: all the lights on the left flash and the backup on the right flashes
Right turn signal: works correctly
Parking lights: work correctly
Breaks applied: Brake light and back up lights on
With Headlights
Left turn: Tail and brake lights alternate and both backup lights flash
Right turn: works correctly
Brakes applied: Brake light and backup lights on
Reverse lights nothing up (may be the pickup switch being bad)
License plate lights don't work, but only one is wired up and that bulb was bad.
As far as I can tell the wiring to the actual lights is connected correctly in the back at least.
EDIT: The hazards don't work as well, and when the hazard switch is out the signals do not work.

Wow! I don't see any way to figure it out from the symptoms as they are both bizarre and legion. So, I would start by checking the grounds. IIRC the Flaresides are prone to ground problems due to the fiberglas fenders. And, from my experience ground problems give bizarre symptoms.
Having said that, rear lights on pickups are frequently messed up because people use crimp connectors, insulation-displacement connectors, and even wire nuts - none of which should be used in that environment - to add trailer wiring. So after the ground hunt I'd start checking the wiring from front to back looking for poor joints, and maybe even shorts between wires.
I'd check grounds first and then with a test light check the wires going to the lights .Brown wire running lights Rt turn green Lt turn yellow backup light black with purple tracer
The back-up lights coming on when the signals and brakes are applied only has one possible cause, a wire is not hooked up correctly. You may indeed have ground problems also, but one of the wires is not in the right place. That would also explain why the back-ups don't work when in reverse, they are not on the correct wire.
Somebody may have tried to install a trailer harness in the rear and messed it up.
I don't know why people cut wires for those things, they're available as harnesses that plug in inline to the existing factory wiring, little chance of screwing that up.
as far as i know the signals on any of the older and maby modern as well do not work when the em flasher's are on they use the same element in the blub.
I think they might be aftermarket taillights maybe. They have 3 wires (orange, brown, yellow) and a built in ground. I'm going to put in a wire to the front where the built in ground goes through.
I'm pretty sure the wires are just wrapped, and if I'm right I'm gonna get in there and solder them too.
Just letting yall know that I got the problem fixed. I'm fairly certain it was a ground issue and I installed a ground wire all the way to the engine compartment. I also soldered the wires where they were just twisted together. All the weird happening have stopped and it works like it should.
Now all thats left is the backup lights that still don't work. (probably the pickup switch on the transmission I think)
