I think the mpg you get in your pants when you get on one of those V10's makes up for it

I had a 2000 v10. I loved the truck hated the mpg. It towed great and it passed everything but a gas station just like my titan. in the mountains towing 4000lbs got 7-8 mpg. empty 11 maybe 12

We have a 99 has 286k on it.. puked out half a dozen spark plugs, ticks like a **** and runs really rich- kinda wont idle. But still runs and pulls a trailer just fine. Never gotten more than 12mpg with it, CCLB F350

My folks have an 01 with that engine with about 87K miles on it. The only use it to tow the camper or when they need a truck, hence the low miles. Engine-wise, the only issue they've had is the infamous blown plug that was common in the earlier year Tritons. Most would tell you it only happens if you screw up putting in new plugs, but my dad is notorious for NOT doing maintenance on his vehicles, so I know he hadn't touched them ever.

Other than that, their impression of it would echo those here. Great towing engine, although it's a bit of a screamer. I've always told the old man he should get some sort of programmer or controller for the tranny while he's towing because it loves to give up and downshift WAY too early, but it sure does pull.
