However, trucks were driven in completely different terrain (4x4 in MA, 2x4 in HI). There are highways in MA and is relatively flat by comparison to HI.
Our 2001 4x2 V-10 gets 11-12 in local driving and 15-16 on the highway. If I bring the highway speed down just a little to about 60-65 with a light load I have actually brought it almost to 17 twice. I've tried hard to break 17 just one time but it's pretty difficult to do with something as aerodynamic as a house!
2003 V-10 with electric fans gets 8.5-9mpg in the city, all stop-and-go and a big size 14 leadfoot. Just like Manglass and WJC, a consistent 15.8-16 mpg at 70mph.

I've thought of installing electric fans - do know your MPG before the fans? Did it improve or stay the same? Did it help with HP? Do they cool well enough?
THanks
Just picked mine up in Tampa. Drove it home to KY. On the first leg, I put in mid-grade and got 14.27. Next leg high speed interstate (75 to 85), and got 13.5. Do you get better milage with premium or midgrade? Is it cost effective?

Since you just bought it - I would suggest disconnecting the neg terminal of the battery and then cycle the headlights on/off. This will reset the adaptive program. This is a technology int he PCM that changes system parameters based on driving techquies, enviroment and over system performance (clean vs dirty filters). This program adjusts based on a rolling 500 mile "experience", so the truck is performing based on the last drivers habits.
When I first got mine, I was getting 13.4 in the interstate - now I'm getting 15-17 (@ 65 MPH or about 2000 rpms).
I haven't seen any difference in 97/89/92 octane - but I haven't run the higher octanes for any length of time.
