That is cool, How many can say they have 400,000 miles on a gas truck. I hope you can get many many more miles out of it. What do you do to put so many miles on your truck?

Yes, please post your driving habits, maintenance practices and items fixed/ replaced. I'm being conservative on my maintenance routines, but always like hearing about what works for others.

This is from one of my earlier post. Still pretty much the same.

I've only used the oil from the dealer so I get whatever they use for bulk and the same for filters.( Both are Ford ) Best I can remember is that all the oil changes but 2 have been at the same local dealership. I change every 5,000 and try to keep it within a hundred or so either way.
My maintenance schedule record at the dealer is as long as a good prostitutes rap sheet. I do plugs at 100,000 and also the boots. I think the boots are the key to making the coils last. I haven't had one go bad yet. Fuel injection cleaning around 75,000 to 80,000. Under the hood I change filters and belts when needed.
Iv'e changed transmission fluid at 50,000 to 60,000 mile intervals. The trans case has been done 2 times and the front and rear axles have been done 2 times. The axles are running Royal Purple. I developed a slight roar on the coast side at 150,000 and changed to it then and noise has been the same ever since. Most people won't even notice there is a noise. I've put a set of rotors on, trailer brake controller, upper and lower ball joints, a couple of altenators ( each at 140,000 miles and less than 1,000 between the two) makes me wonder if the next one will be at 420,000. Changed coolant twice, still have original hoses. One in tank fuel pump. Change fuel filter when recommended. I've just always tried to stay ahead in the preventive maintenance game. You can look up my post for anything else.

I do tow a good bit. We have a 16' heavy duty double axle trailer that I tow. I haul job equipment, tools and supplies to different job sites. Sometimes it's not to heavy and some are loaded to the gills. Last week it was 12 hours hauling material to jobs with this trailer. I also pull my bass boat and I have 31' travel trailer. The travel trailer goes about 9,000lbs and has a lot of wind resistance. I'll average around 12 on the interstate at 75 to 80 unloaded and 13 on the back roads at 55 to 60+. Pulling the 16' depends alot on the load but usually somewhere around 10. Pulling the travel trailer at 65 will get 8 to 9. I did see 14 a couple of times but that is a light 55mph and you really have to work at it. The truck is bone stock.

I've put all the miles on this truck myself and we are traveling alot more now because of the lack of big commercial work in the Atlanta area. So I'll be seeing alot more of the windshield to just cover the jobs.

I sure hate that Ford decided to pull the v-10 from the 250 lineup. I can't see a v-8 being able to do what this truck is capable of. It will be a hard decision for the next one.

Hope this answers a few questions and let me know if you have others. I'll try and get back as soon as possible.

Look up my post for any other questions and if you don't see what you're looking for ask me and I'll try and get back to answer any questions.

Very impressive, a gas engine can venture into the higher mileage range. Let's keep this secret from the DSL boys. Good job!
