Ok so I noticed some corrosion inside my positive battery cable so I replaced it along with the wire that goes from the alt to the battery. No the only codes I'm getting are...
Key on engine off-
111 System Pass
Key on engine running-
157 Mass Air Flows Sensor Circuit Below Minimum Voltage
998 Hard Fault Present (memory code)(maybe cuz of the 157 code?)
How is the ground wire? Bad grounds can cause issues, also.
The main ground from the battery is ok as far as I can tell but I'm planning on replacing that as well. However the ground strap that goes from the back of the engine to the fire wall is kind of a turquoise color but I can't seem to get to the bolt that attaches it to the back of the engine. Do you think a bad ground could be causing the MAF code?
I'm gonna disconnect the B- tomorrow and do the hot and cold fuel trim relearn procedure tomorrow. Now just so I know I'm doing it right should I be going up through the gears and then back down one by one or just go straight back to park after going up through the gears?
I'd go up through them then back down one by one. I think that's what the writeup on that procedure says to do - it's been a while since I read it...
Have you tried cleaning the MAF? There's a plastic-safe spray formulated just for the MAF that you can use - might be a good idea to check out the wiring harness and plug while you're at it - if any of the pins are bent or corroded, it can cause issues. I'm not sure if that corroded ground strap is causing your problem, but it does sound like something that will have to be addressed eventually.
The MAF is relatively new as a replaced it a few months ago thinking maybe that was the problem then I had it at a shop and he swapped the pigtail and I cleaned it a few days ago. So I'm gonna reset the comp, do the relearn, then replace the negative cable as well as that ground strap and any other grounds I can find. If that doesn't fix it ill probably start looking at the MAF wires a lil more.
Alright so we've gone over 100 miles since I cleared the comp and did the relearn procedure and still no CEL! The next task is to figure out why the brake flui level sensor isn't working right. The brake light on my dash will come on and if I just wiggle the plug on the sensor under the reservoir it goes away. I've tried using electrical contact cleaner and then dielectric grease but it still does it, not a big deal just annoying. Then I'm gonna do my
E-fan install.
