For the longest time i have had code 334 and 179. today i was monkeying around with the truck i have resolved 334, FINALLY!! , took it on a drive and rechecked the codes.
KOEO 111
CM 179
KOER 111.
I for the life of me cannot figure this think out.
1992 5.0. auto. new plugs, wires, MAP sensor, EGR valve and sensor on top, newer PCV. Fuel pressure tested within range and the O2 sensor looks good too.
Any help or ideas on what to look into would be greatly appreciated. fuel mileage is a little on the low end (10-12) and it just smells like it is running really rich. This is all highway driving. runs decent but seems to kind of struggle maintaining speed at highway speed and bogs down real low and mph really drops going up hills. sometimes it downshifts which is normal and smooth but sometimes it does not.
Since Code 179 is in CM, stored codes, have you tried clearing the codes? IIRC it takes ~80 drive cycles to clear themselves. It's easier to do it yourself.
On the other hand since you state it smells like the truck is running rich and the code indicates the PCM cannot trim enough fuel out I would suggest you check the fuel pressure and also check the Fuel Pressure Regulator for signs of a ruptured diaphragm. Cycle the key on/off a few times then pull off the vacuum line to the FPR, check for signs of fuel via sight and smell.
I had a few codes. Fixed some stuff, cleared the codes, took it on a good drive with all driving conditions, rechecked codes, only threw 179. Fuel pressure is good.

Define "good"
Pressure with the truck idling, vacuum hose to FPR attached?
