I like the joking and sillyness too, as a matter of fact I once was the first to respond to a newb's question in the F-250 section. his question was "where do you guys put your chip in these f-250's"? or something real similar. I responded with I like to dip my chips in Salsa and left it at that. Someone came by real quick to help this guy out. So it goes to show that Fun is fine when appropriate and not taken to far...
ok see? I thats funny as hell....and its not personal and most reasonable people would not be offended by that.
Now if someone says something extremely stupid that you would think would be googled first if you have no knowledge of the subject..well then thats a bit different and i have been known to get a bit snappy once in awhile as well
...I went on to fix the problem without having to "upgrade."
No question, some forums are more active, and more helpful, than others. The reason may be a matter of the skill level of the participants. The reason may be a matter of how many of that model are out there.
But my question back to you would be, when you figured out the problem, did you post a thread with the info to help the next user? It takes a few people willing to contribute to make a forum topic great.

I'd pretty much be a duckhead if I came in here looking for answers and then didn't follow through when I found the solution. I've gotten too much help on this site to not give back.

Absolutely! Regardless if just one duckhead in just one forum or even a collection of duckheads think their SOH's are helpful or offered only instead of contributing directly to a question its still not enough to attempt help someone. Its good to give back no matter how its received by someone unappreciative.
I too like a little fun but there is a time and place for it. Things can go terribly wrong when a question isn't clearly worded but we can't all be perfect writers, our slang sometimes creeps in and its not as universally understood as we hope for.
I'll try helping anyone I can as often as I can but I try to keep out of conversations I can't add anything to, just my own way of being a member on any forum.
I agree some Sections are more helpful, I pretty much stay in the 4x4 section, we do joke around alot, and alot of us know each other from other places and talk a good bit besides just on FTE I try my best to help when i can, but it gets old getting the same question 3 or 4 times in a week... 'like what tires are best for me' we had that question i believe 4 or 5 times in a week, all of them asking for the basic tire need it gets old quick answering the same question 5 times a week when it's obvious the same question was just asked, then theres the 'What do yall think bout a body lift?' then when opinions are givin they get butt hurt...
DONT GET ME WRONG.. yes the section can be harsh some people more so than other's
BUT ive found that the same sorta thing happens in several forums as well

Nobody gets butt hurt when you give your opinion.... I promise, I’m positive it’s the way you give your opinion that’s the problem. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> How about one person do a rite-up on lift and tires and make it a sticky in your section. Then refer them there first; remember that all spring lift is simply not the answer for everyone’s application. <o></o> I would start by saying that we here in the 4x4 section are about serious about off road so if that is not your plan than we recommend posting elsewhere.<o></o> It just seems easier to me than just ridiculing. <o></o> BTW, Larry here is what you said in the thread I am referencing. "Hes not, heck there was one a few days or weeks ago that had them in the front... if im not mistaking it was a dizzle.... talk bout a moron" <o></o> Now you weren’t talking about the OP, but the guy with the blocks in the front; but this goes to show what I was saying. In the F-250 section we see blocks upfront all the time but not one person is referred to as a moron, they are just explained how dangerous they are, and to correct that as soon as possible. <o></o> Now I’m no angel either, I have had my share of flying off the handle, but I always make a public apology for what I say.<o></o>

Believe me that was nothing compaired to what i say in person when i see them... lol
I had a marine pissed so bad one night at a mud bog because his F-130 siting on 40's had a 8" block under it i told him how stupid and unsafe he was not to mention how illegal he was
but im glad you can remember i said that stuff because i dont remember it... i know there was a thread that i had said something to that effect but souclnt tell you what one or what i said word for word...
anyways got a truck to finish cleaning and start working the bugs out of
Well that brings me to a question ive been wanting to ask...if everyone used the search feature and never asked questions again wouldnt the forum just die out? If I can help someone out I enjoy sharing my info every chance I get. What else do people have to do anyway on a forum? Isnt this kinda the point?

Well I said it before... I dont care how you choose to conduct yourself, all im trying to say is dont try to blow smoke up anybodys whazoo! Be as exclusive in your clique as you want; just dont be mad when you get called on it. And dont come here and try and politic your self some new friends....
If i showed up at a mud bog with that setup, I would expect to be called on it too, that is dangerous...

what Larry is referring to Caleb, is 5 posts in a row with tire size for 79 F250 highboy in the title. and someone comes in and asks what size tire do i need to buy for my 79 F250 highboy.
or someone coming in asking what size blocks do i need to add to the rear after putting a 4 inch lift in the front?
or i put 4 inch blocks in the rear, what size blocks do i need to level the front, after reading the 15 posts in the thread saying how dangerous lift blocks are.
or, i talked to a reputable shop and they said lift blocks and body lifts made out of hockey pucks are safe.
after a while it gets tiring telling someone to open your frickin eyes before asking a stupid question.
unfortunately, most of the posts that end up with people getting all butthurt would never have been posted at all if the poster would just open their eyes and read someone elses posts.

Im not part of some clique yes we talk an a few of us have meet in person an to be honest idc what they think of me and idc if i look cool on the internet im gonna state my opinion on something and its not gonna be altered wether someone likes or dont like it...
Im not sure what the blowing smoke up someone's *** comment is supposed to mean unless your stating i change my opinion depending on what someone else says or something
