No spark

I have a '71 Highboy, but it has a 460 from a '76 truck, model unknown. I'm posting here because I know there is a lot of knowledge here, regardless of which forum I'm in. The truck has been running great, I just recently bought it (May 16) and drove it home 1100 miles with no problems. This past Saturday morning I went out to start it and it cranked well but would not start. I found that it was not getting fire. I suspected the ignition module and bought a new at NAPA. However that didn't solve the problem and I couldn't return it after I had plugged it up. No big deal I guess, those modules are known to go bad and now for $30 I have a spare if I need it. I reinstalled the old ignition module and played around with the distributor and coil, removed the electrical connections from the coil, sprayed them with some contact cleaner and it started right up and ran well for two more days. This morning I went out to start it to go to work and it did the same thing -- cranks good, but no spark. I rode with my wife into town and went to NAPA to get a coil. The NAPA guy talked me out of it saying that I should check the connections to the pick up module in the distributor. I'm not familiar with this part, but I will check it out when I get home tonight. I'm just wondering what the consensus is here on that, and if you all have any other ideas that I might consider.

Thanks

Still no go. didn't find any bad connections but I did find one wire leading from the pickup module with insulation stripped off. Taped it up, not the problem. Hot-wired the coil, still no go. Fire to the coil, no fire out. Got a new pickup module this morning, will try that tonight.

you might consider ditching the duraspark ignition and just upgrade to a hei ingnition, not to familiar with the 67-72 trucks but depending on your motor you might be able to get one.

New pickup module did the trick. Cleaned the reluctor up with some sandpaper and it fired right up.
