I have a leak that happens in heavy rain that makes it way inside the windshield and drips thru the dash onto the floor. I found it last night. It seems to be on the drivers side upper left corner just below the turn going down towards the bottom of the shield. Its right behind my pyro guage and boost. I am pretty sure I can seal it from the outside but I need to ask how does the outside rubber seal come off? I also noticed a area on the turn under the rubber seal on the outside where it looks like water may run in under heavy rain. If I can remove the seal and just reseal that area I will. I just want to know what i'm in for if i try to remove the outer rubber seal first to seal it up good. thanks jeff
The rubber seal can't be removed, its made on the windshield. You will probably have to have the windshield replaced,if its still factory the sealant they used back then wasn't very good,if its been replaced before it is probably from a poor install job,I just had mine replaced last weekend
Its the original windshield. I was thinking of just trying to seal it from the outside with the NAPA windshield sealer. It a real viscous sealer that goes into all the small nooks. I can also try to seal the corner. I would have to pay out of pocket for a new windshield i think unless it get damaged. I do have full glass coverage but i am not sure if it cover a leak or not. Anyway that answers my seal question. At least I now know what i can try to seal it. Maybe a rock will hit it soon by accident. thanks for the help jeff
Mine leaks on the passenger side, you definitely need to get it fixed because there is some sort of computer that costs thousands to replace under there (not PCM). My carpet gets wet every now and again. My suggestion would be to get a baseball and say you went to a ball game and a foul got it haha!
I just called the auto glass place near me. He wants 110 bucks to remove it and reseal it but cant guarantee it wont break upon removal. I think a rock just hit mine this am so ill have to get it replaced with a new one now. thanks for the help.. jeff
Auto glass is one of the few repair items I would not recommend trying to do yourself. I have attempted it over the years, back in the days of rubber gaskets and mastic, and it wasn't pretty. I can only imagine that the newer polyurethane sealers have made things even more difficult.
