Overdrive Indicator Light

While on vacation, the light on the gear shift selector that indicates if you are in overdrive, started flickering. It is a 1993 E350 motor home with a 7.5 and a E4od trans. Has anyone had this problem?

Flickering is one thing, blinking with what seems to be a pattern could be a error code from the computer that controls the tranny.

Usually, it's a rhythmic blinking (steady rate) that indicated your vacation plans are going to include a visit to a transmission shop....

The TCIL does not attempt to communicate fault codes, those must be pulled via the OBD1 port.

If it's just randomly flickering or blinking, you probably have a wire rubbing through at the base of the shifter lever and it's shorting out, especially if you aren't noticing any transmission-related symptoms.
