The other day while i was driving my 1999 F350 Superduty with the automatic transmission with overdrive, the overdrive indicator light at the end of the shifter started blinking. Once I got home, I looked at my Chiltons manual. I could not find any help there. Has anyone else has this problem with their truck?
Also, when shifting between 2nd and 3rd, it seems to want to lag a bit. But does go ahead and engage firmly once a certain RPM range has been reached.

I believe that is how your computer is telling you that it has an error code. Certain "check engine" errors can be displayed in a series of flashes on the O/D off light.
Did the O/D OFF light quit flashing? Been my experience in past that when it flashes, the tranny is too hot. There are however other items that are indicated by the same sign though.
Yes, the light did go off, when I turned the key off. It did not come back on. And the check engine light did not come on. I will call the local Ford dealership today.
Your computer may have reset the code but it probably will be stored in the computer. The dealer or anyone else with a scantool can read what the code was.
I had it scanned Wednesday. the trouble code told me the VSS was bad. I will get it today ($22.00), Thursday, replace it tonight and have the trouble code deleted Friday.
