Eco-Boost breakin

Take delivery of my new F-150 tomorrow. Was wondering if there is any particular way to break these motors in.

Before towing, read your owners manual from front to back. If you decide to change your oil early, remember, the Ecoboost uses 5w-30 oil and it will run great on 87 octane.

Thank you both. Plan on breaking in motor on Dino oil and then switching to Synthetic on third oil change.
I really lucked out, I'm taking delivery after only 5 weeks from ordering truck. I was told minimum 6-10 weeks

So you're going to dump the factory synthetic blend and put in dino oil?

And why would you switch to full synthetic after 15,000-30,000 miles (depending on your service category)?

I was not aware that Ford oil was synthetic. If that's what comes in it then I will leave it alone. Have not seen the manual yet

I think this topic is a can of worms...some believe that you should break in a motor the way the manufacturer says...and some do not. I am personally a fan of the mototuneusa method. However, these days the way motors are honed, it might not be as big of an issue as it was in the past. The key to proper break in of ANY motor is getting the proper ring seal...meaning acceleration and deceleration during the first few hundred miles.
